The majority of respondents polled in recent EMR adoption-related studies answered that they were in either headlong into EMR implementation or at least the due diligence stage of the EMR adoption process. In fact, a physician can’t pick up a professional publication or journal without finding at least one story about EMR adoption and the potential benefits. Since evidence indicates that rapid adoption will certainly occur in the marketplace, in part fuelled by President Bush’s call for widespread adoption, we encourage providers to meet the challenges ahead by learning the tangible and intangible benefits of EMR, and then setting realistic goals for their practice. |
